Meet the Bishops

Disney has always been part of my life.

I grew up going to Disney with my family, so I’ve always had that nostalgic connection to it. But somewhere along the way, Disney stopped being just a place I visited and became part of my own family’s story.

My husband and I had our first date at what is now Paddlefish. And somewhere outside Star Tours, he fell in love.

Then we had kids.

And Disney went to an entirely different level.

Suddenly Goofy, Donald, Minnie and all their friends weren’t just characters we saw on vacation. They were part of our everyday lives.

And once we took our kids to Walt Disney World for the first time?

That was pretty much it.

We’ve been on a nonstop train back ever since.

I love Disney. I also love a plan.

In normal life, I am absolutely a planner.

Years in marketing probably didn't help that. Give me a complicated project, 400 moving pieces and a spreadsheet and I'm strangely happy.

But on vacation? I actually want to go with the flow.

Which sounds completely contradictory, but hear me out.

I like to have a plan, or at least know what to expect, so I don't spend the whole trip worrying about what we're supposed to be doing next.

I want to know what park we're going to. I want to understand how Lightning Lane works. I want the important reservations handled and a general idea of the things we don't want to miss.

But a good plan also leaves room to change it.

Once we're there, I want to be able to stop for something we didn't expect, ride something again because the kids loved it, or completely change course because something else sounds more fun.

For me, the planning isn't about sticking to a schedule. It's about taking away the stress so I can be present and actually enjoy the vacation.

Which brings me here...

This is basically a place for me to talk about something I already talk about way too much.

Disney.

The resorts we love. The food we eat. The rides we’ll happily wait for. The things that surprised us, the favorites we keep going back to, and everything we’ve learned along the way.

Basically, all the Disney things I would be talking about anyway—now they just have a place to live.

We've made a lot of Disney memories over the years, and I have a feeling we're nowhere close to finished.
